Light at the end of a tunnel. (a little OT)

If someone asks me in a polite and coherent fashion, I usually help 'em out. Questions like, "Does anyone know where is?" or, "Can you help me kill ?" will usually elicit a "Sure, it's at or "Give me a moment to finish what I'm doing, and I'll be right there." (Or, if I'm not feeling sociable, they'll get "Sorry, I'm busy right now..."). Asking nicely really does help, and I remember what it's like being the lost newbie.
However, a "HAY CN I HV GOLDZ or, "Help me kill " or, "Would you loan me so I can buy from the AH?" generally meet with a, "Sorry, no, I'm saving for my flying mount," or "I'm on the other side of the zone, use the LFG tool." (There's a reason I do my banking through a nice, anonymous 1st level toon... avoids most of the beggars. )
If it's obvious they really need help, I'll help. If they're just being lazy and want someone to finish a quest for them, no dice. (Especially new guild recruits asking for instance run-throughs... We've finally gotten to the point of insta-booting on begging or asking for handouts from the tales are more than true: not because
they tell us dragons exist, but because they tell us
that dragons can be beaten."

-Haiku for an Idiot Poster by Shador VIII (C)2009So here is my story,
I was sitting in Stormwind... I really don't know what I was doing there, but I started getting PMs from low level toons asking for money for mounts or stuff like that. I got rather frustrated with these lazy people though I refrained from turning to vulgarity, but instead told them I was broke and if they want money to go kill the men outside for some money.
Then I got a PM from a lvl 16 hunter that brightened my day a bit. It wasn't a Can you give me money plz Im new. Or can you give me an item or anything like that. No simply was this. "Can you tell me what mobs I need to tame to get specific skills for my pet? No one will help me." I smiled at the thought of someone actually asking for help instead of hand outs so I directed him to Petopia and told him all the answers to his pet questions could be answered there. He thanked me and said he prolly never would have found it without me letting him know it existed.
I know it is slightly OT but I just wanted to show that some people really do ask for some honest help still. =D-Alliance
